Overview

Assets are the individual components of your fleet. They’re used to track the location, status, and history of inventory, and to plan the future, of each asset.

Asset Types

Idalia distinguishes between asset types and unique assets. Asset types are different types of things. They’re used to structure your asset catalog, allocate placeholders to projects and transport orders, and enable flexible reporting.

Assets

Assets are uniquely-identifiable things. There can be many assets of the same asset type. For example, if you run a construction equipment rental business:
  • An asset type could be “20T Excavator - Caterpillar 320”
  • Assets belonging to that type are the specific excavators: “EX-101” (Serial: CAT320-1234) and “EX-102” (Serial: CAT320-5678)

The Asset Register

Idalia’s asset register lets your browse and manage your asset types and unique assets. You can search by name, SKU or unique ID, status, current location, and more. Once you’ve found what you’re looking for, click on an item to go to a dedicated page for it. Each asset type and each unique asset has a dedicated page.

The asset type page

On an asset type’s page, you can view and edit its properties including name, SKU, dimensions, and description. You can also view inventory and project allocations. Toggle the map button in the top right of the page to show or hide a map showing where your inventory is.

The unique asset page

On a unique asset’s page, you can view and edit its properties including name, unique ID, status, current location, and more. Toggle the map button in the top right of the page to show or hide a map showing where the asset is

Asset notes

Click the Notes button in the top right of the page to write notes about the asset. Notes, like all data in Idalia, is synced in realtime across different users, so it’s easy to collaborate with others as you type.

Asset history

As your asset is deployed and used in various ways, keep its information up-to-date in Idalia. We’ll automatically collect any changes, including who made them and when, and showing them in the History section of the asset page. This detailed audit trail gives you the full story so you can always make the best decisions about asset allocation fast.

View the asset register

To browse the asset register, click Assets in the sidebar. You’ll then see a list of all your asset types. You can switch back and forth between asset types and unique assets by clicking the buttons at the top of the page.
